Gillman Scholarship Program Alum Ryanna Miller Addresses Fostering Alumni Network Development in Alabama, with U.S. Department of State’s Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund Rapid Response Grant
Washington, DC, March 15, 2021 –Ms. Ryanna Miller received a grant from the U.S. Department of State’s Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund to provide Alabama HBCU students exposure and access to international study abroad and global opportunities. In September 2020, the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs invited U.S. citizen alumni of all U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs, including the Fulbright Program, the Gilman Scholarship, and Cultural and Sports Envoys, to apply for small grants of up to $10,000 as part of the Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund Rapid Response funding opportunity.

REACH: HBCU Global Institute Pioneers Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Field of Diplomacy

Between April 6-8, 2021, nearly 400 students and faculty from Alabama’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), international exchange professionals, and U.S. exchange alumni participated in the virtual REACH: HBCU Global Institute. The three-day conference was organized by Jacquelyn Shipe, CEO of Global Ties Alabama, and Ryanna Miller, Co-Founder of Diplomatic Perspective, through a grant from the U.S. Department of State Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund.

Congratulations to Gilman Alumna Ryanna Miller on winning the Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund grant from the @ECAatState! The grant will fund 2021 Reach: HBCU Global Institute, running April 6-8, and serving Alabama HBCU and community college students.
